Who should use this toolkit? The toolkit was designed for a wide audience of worksite leaders including, but not limited to senior management, human resource officers, business owners, health and wellness committees, and wellness coordinators. Whether your office is experienced in wellness or not, most of the recommendations included can be useful and usable regardless of an organization’s existing health expertise and initiatives.

What results should I expect? And when? A brief discussion of the possible benefits resulting from the implementation of a program can be found on page 6. Research suggests that well-aligned, comprehensive worksite wellness programs are associated with benefits to businesses and individual participants, but expectations of quick results may be unrealistic. Behavior change may occur in a matter of days or weeks, but can take months or years to translate into significant weight loss for employees or a financial return for a company.

How can I ensure that my wellness program is compliant with relevant laws? There are several compliance-related requirements set by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to consider when designing a workplace health programs.
