CHATHAM COUNTY, NC: The Chatham Health Alliance is excited to welcome Julie Wilkerson, MPH, as its new Coordinator. A native of the Triangle, Ms. Wilkerson moved into the role in late October. As Coordinator, she is responsible for the overall oversight and coordination of Chatham Health Alliance activities and associated projects, including the planning, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives.

After receiving her undergraduate degree in Developmental Psychology, Ms. Wilkerson worked with children and young adults providing social emotional support and teaching in an inclusion classroom for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She worked at a clinic in Uganda before receiving her Master’s in Public Health from Oregon State University in 2017, with a focus on health equity, advocacy, and policy. After working an additional year in Portland, Ms. Wilkerson decided to move back to her hometown of Durham. “I am so happy to be back where I was born and raised and am excited to continue working to advocate and promote good health and wellbeing in my community,” she stated.

“As a member of the Chatham Health Alliance Leadership Team, and 2018 Alliance Chair, I am pleased to welcome Julie Wilkerson, MPH, as the new Alliance Coordinator,” said Chatham Health Alliance Chair and Chief Nursing Officer at Chatham Hospital Tammy Needham.  “Julie comes to the Chatham Health Alliance with respectable education, community involvement, and work experience. Julie also brings an energy and passion for promoting health and well-being in the community.”

The next Chatham Health Alliance meeting will be held Tuesday, December 4 from 10am-12pm at the Western Chatham Senior Center in Siler City.
